But before I start wishing you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I want to share a short story for those who might feel extra lonely during these days.

On December 25, 2016, it was the first time in my entire life that I was completely alone during Christmas. This was really special because here, where I live, it is quite a thing to be with family and friends on this special day.

But I was coming out of a painful breakup with my wife, so my children were with her, and because our breakup had caused so much emotional pain, it also didn't feel okay to be with family and friends.

So as I walked outside that evening, looking through the windows of the houses, I saw happy families gathered around the Christmas tree celebrating and preparing for dinners.

And there I was walking, totally alone in the dark....

But did I feel lonely?

No, I did not feel lonely at all, because precisely during that difficult period, I started working on myself and something had already changed in me.

It was the path of forgiveness and love that I had chosen that gave me peace, joy and fulfillment.

So for those who are alone or feel lonely, you are love itself and I see you and I feel you. And as the great philosopher Rumi once said. “Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you”
